• What is physical therapy?

     

    Physical therapy is non-surgical treatment that involves direct manipulation of muscles, joints and other parts of the body affected by an injury or chronic illness. Strength training, heat treatments, massage and supervised exercises are all elements of physical therapy. We design a plan of care for each patient individually depending on the type of injury or condition, the patient’s age and specialized treatments prescribed by a physician.

  • How long will my regular appointments be?

     

    Depending on the type of treatment you have been referred for, your regular appointments will last from 60 to 90 minutes.

  • How long will my first visit be?

    You can expect to be at the center from 60 to 90 minutes on your first visit. You will undergo a comprehensive evaluation so that an appropriate treatment plan can be established. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment to discuss insurance and billing procedures with our front office personnel.

  • What should I wear to therapy?

     

    Patients should wear tennis shoes and comfortable exercise clothing. Sweatshirts, t-shirts, gym shorts or exercise pants are encouraged.

     

  • Who will be involved in my physical therapy?

     

    Physical therapy services are directed by licensed physical therapists. Your specialized treatment program will involve a team approach, consisting of skilled physical therapist and physical therapy assistants.

     

  • Will I always have the same therapist?

     

    It is our policy to schedule you with the same team of therapists for each of your visits to our center. Occasionally, substitutions must be made because of staff vacation, illness or participation in continued education.

     

  • Will my insurance cover the costs of my treatment?

     

    Our front office staff will have information about your insurance coverage when you arrive at the center. Although insurance policies vary, typically 80 percent of our services are covered by commercial insurance after your deductible is met. Please be prepared to give our receptionist your insurance information; RSH/JWPT will verify your coverage with your insurance carrier and if there are any questions, we will let you know.

     

  • What if I don’t have insurance?

     

    Please refer to our front office staff to discuss self-payment options.

  • How do I pay my portion of the bill?

     

    For your convenience, we generally bill commercial insurance carriers for you, and ask that you pay your co-pay portion at the center on the day of treatment. We will let you know if any additional payment is required.

     

  • What should I do if I am unable to make my appointment?

     

    Call the office where the appointment is scheduled and notify the receptionist. We request that all cancellations preferably be made 24 hours in advance so another patient may use your time slot.

  • Will my doctor be kept updated on my treatments and progress?

     

    A copy of your initial evaluation will be sent to your referring physician, along with regular progress notes to keep your physician updated on your progress and current functional status. Communication with all parties is an important component of your treatment program.
